Data Analyst

Tambellini Group is seeking a Data Analyst to drive insights from our data. The right candidate will help unlock insights from our database, based on decades of research around the higher education technology market. Working with the analyst, research, and technology teams, the data analyst will help to analyze the existing data, visualize, and report the results of that analysis for research and publication, and review data structures and integrations in light of analytical requirements.


Data Analysts collect data, such as sales numbers or market research, to help companies make the right decisions. This work encompasses several duties and responsibilities, including:

  • Work with executives and other business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Create reports for internal teams and/or external clients
  • Collaborate with team members to review and analyze data
  • Use graphs, infographics, and other methods to visualize data
  • Structure large data sets to find usable information
  • Work with a team of analysts and other associates to process information
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings

Technology Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Office 365 applications and Microsoft Teams environment 
  • Coding skills in languages such as SQL, R, SPSS
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS)
  • Experience with PostgreSQL


  • BA or BS in statistics, math, computer science, physics, or other technical related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in technical data analysis, data science, or data warehousing with proven business analysis experience
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, and transforming techniques
  • Reporting and data visualization skills using software like Tableau
  • Understanding of databases, data warehousing, integration, and ETL techniques
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations
  • Technical writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation, writing, and Excel skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to QA and troubleshoot data
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in higher education; specific familiarity with higher education terms, institution types, typical software used by institutions for administrative systems and learning technologies
  • Experience with IPEDs reporting requirements and terms
