Steven Lacek has been involved with community college education in West Virginia for approximately 15 years. He began as an instructional specialist, teaching developmental mathematics, and worked his way to the rank of Associate Professor. Later, as Department Chair of Developmental Education, he served on a task force that helped usher in developmental education reform across the state. He then transitioned to Division Head of Social Sciences, Education, and Non-Traditional Programs. Mr. Lacek currently serves as Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants—and Chief Data Officer—at New River Community and Technical College, where he is involved with several institutional initiatives, including data governance.
Mr. Lacek holds a MA in mathematics from Marshall University and BA in secondary education in teaching from Concord University.
