New on the scene in 2017, CIO Sam Kann was at the helm of Northeastern Illinois University’s technology services. He is considered a strategic partner who was in charge of upgrading the entire technology foundation to position it as, in his words “an ecosystem that could pivot, scale, and change.” Kann conducted a revealing environment assessment of the school’s technology showing hardware, systems, and applications that the university relied upon were at end of life and could not be renewed. Two key factors to guide the project: student experience and student convenience.
