When COVID-19 triggered the near-universal adoption of synchronous video instruction, it forever impacted the industry and the higher education mindset on video-based learning. Video technologies that once supported predominantly asynchronous or synchronous activity now support both. The recent developments in video pedagogies and technologies present a challenge to campus IT leaders who must address faculty and students’ changing needs as institutions transition to a post-COVID world. Effective leadership requires consideration of pedagogical intent, educational use cases, and technological trends associated with video-based learning.
