College Credit Mobility: Student Voices and Staff Perspectives on Time, Technologies, and Transfer Processes

This research, conducted by rpk GROUP and the American Institutes for Research (AIR), explores the complexities of college credit mobility in the US higher education system. Through student journey maps, interviews with transfer students, and staff perspectives, the study highlights the significant time investments required for transfer, the lack of timely credit evaluation, and the role of technology in supporting (or hindering) successful credit transfer. By examining barriers, institutional processes, and opportunities for improvement, the report provides actionable insights for institutions, policymakers, and advisors committed to increasing student success, reducing financial burdens, and improving equitable transfer outcomes.
