In a year followed by rapid technological innovation on campuses across the country, these awards highlight the leading individuals and teams who stand out for their exceptional commitment and success in driving impactful technology initiatives in the service of their institutional constituents.  

CIO Award

Consistently effective leaders have a rare combination of skills: they strategically drive change while going above and beyond to help and empower their colleagues. The CIO Award recognizes these leaders for their achievements in deploying modern technology across a wide array of areas, including CRM, student engagement, and cloud initiatives. 

Technology Team Award

The strength of an effective team depends on the tireless dedication and meaningful collaboration from numerous individuals across various functions. The Innovative Technology Team Award honors a creative team that successfully led a transformative project focused on improving outcomes for students, faculty, and administration, including change leadership, student engagement, administrative systems, and data and analytics.

History of Tambellini Technology Leadership Awards

The Tambellini Technology Leadership Awards are given in honor of Dr. Wayne Brown as a tribute to his tremendous impact on CIOs in higher education. Dr. Brown is a longtime chief information officer in higher education and has devoted his professional and academic studies to CIO attributes and effectiveness in higher education.

Michael joined Workday in 2013 seeding the Student project team and contributing to its initial architecture and design. Michael led the Product Management team as they designed the core student product and facilitated a three-year customer design partner program. Today, Michael leads the Product Strategy team responsible for determining market fit, competitive market intelligence, and overall product direction. Prior to joining Workday, Michael worked 16 years at Peoplesoft and Oracle in support of the Campus Solutions product in Product Management, Development, and Support. Michael has committed his professional career to the improvement of higher education management through the design and development of Student Information Systems.
